2024 CFP Championship Public Betting Splits
The top sportsbooks have yet to release CFP Championship public money data for the upcoming 2023-24 college football season. We do, however, have data from last year to reflect on.
The CFP Championship betting splits released by DraftKings Sportsbook at the beginning of the 2022-23 season show that Alabama was the public’s consensus pick to win the title. Georgia, the eventual champion, only received 3% of the total betting handle at the start of the year.
Past College Football Championship Winners (CFP Era)
Year | Champion | Runner-up | Final Score |
---|---|---|---|
2022 | Georgia | TCU | 65-7 |
2021 | Georgia | Alabama | 33-18 |
2020 | Alabama | Ohio State | 52-24 |
2019 | LSU | Clemson | 42-25 |
2018 | Clemson | Alabama | 44-16 |
2017 | Alabama | Georgia | 26-23 |
2016 | Clemson | Alabama | 35-31 |
2015 | Alabama | Clemson | 45-40 |
2014 | Ohio State | Oregon | 42-20 |
With consecutive titles in 2021 and 2022, Georgia is the only repeat winner of the College Football Championship in the CFP era (2014-present). Alabama leads the way with three national championships since the College Football Playoff was implemented.
Although TCU didn’t win the National Championship, they are arguably the top underdog story of the CFP era thus far. Sonny Dykes’ team opened as a +20000 longshot (0.5% implied probability) to win the National Title in 2023 and came one victory away from doing the improbable.
