AO Men’s Champions by Country

Nadal is the only Spaniard to ever win in Australia giving Spain two titles as a nation.

Australia leads the all-time record for winners at this event with 44 in the amateur era and six in the open era for a total of 50 winners. The USA with 18 and Serbia with ten round out the top three. All ten titles for Serbia have come from Novak Djokovic.

Women’s Singles Top Contenders

Aryna Sabalenka won in 2023 defeating Elena Rybakina 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to win her first Aussie Open title. She’s been the second favorite for much of 2023 to defend that title in 2024.

Swiatek leads the pack to win the Australian Open at odds of +330 at DraftKings. That gives her an implied probablity of 23.26% .Defending champion Sabalenka is listed at +450 (18.18%) and current Wimbledon champion Vondrousova is listed at +2800 (3.45%).

Unlike on the men’s side, it’s often a new face winning each year in Australia. There have been seven different winners the past eight years. Only Osaka has won twice in that span. Sabalenka kept a streak of a new winner in Austrlia going for each of the past four years.

AO Women’s Champions by Country

Barty became the first Australian to win the Aussie Open since Chris O’Neil, who won it all in 1978. This, despite Australia owning the most overall titles with 44. Naomi Osaka is the only Japanese player on either the men’s or women’s tours to win the Aussie Open.

With Sabalenka’s win in 2023, Belarus now has three titles to their name.
