  • Simplebet, a technology leader in micro betting products, reported a 350% increase in NBA bets this season
  • This is the second year Simplebet has featured NBA markets
  • 200,000 unique bets placed during the NBA season

In its second year of offering NBA markets, Simplebet reported a year-over-year growth of 350% for NBA bets compared with its first season.

Simplebet, a B2B product development company specializing in micro betting, has developed a number of products for the NFL, MLB, college football, and NBA for its partnered operators. Simplebet provided markets on 90 separate playoff games and play-in games over the two-month period of the NBA playoffs.

The provider took nearly $47 million across its operator partner base during the NBA season.

Five-Times Increase in NBA Playoff Betting

Simplebet reported it saw almost a five-times increase in bet count year-over-year, seeing over 200,000 unique users bet on the matchups across the NBA playoffs.

“This year’s NBA playoffs truly showcases the capability of Simplebet’s platform for a free-flowing game like basketball. With almost 100% uptime, our markets allow fans to bet on their favorite players’ next shot attempt result throughout the course of the entire NBA game. We are thrilled with the results of this NBA season, and we look forward to expanding our NBA offering by the opening tip next year,” Chris Bevilacqua, CEO of Simplebet, said in a press release.

Co-founded in 2018 by Bevilacqua, current CEO of Betr Joey Levy, and Scott Marshall, Simplebet has pioneered micro betting and fan engagement for U.S. sports over the last five years.

Simplebet’s NBA Success on Heels of NCAA Football

The NBA growth came after a successful college football season for the micro betting company.

Simplebet previously reported that its operators saw nearly $4 million in handle on the game, an increase of nearly $1.7 million compared with the 2022 College Football Championship.

According to the company, despite the National Championship matchup already being decided by the second half, its operators reported that 50.1% of the total handle bet on the game came from the second half, and nearly 46.6% of bets as well.

In total, Simplebet reported 158,000 total wagers on the game, a 226% increase from the past year’s contest. The most bet upon market by the provider was “drive result exact,” which allows bettors to bet on whether a drive will result in a touchdown, field goal attempt, punt or turnover.

More than 22% of all betting activity came from New York.

While the College Football National Championship ended up being a complete blowout with the Georgia Bulldogs winning by a score of 65-7, that came as little surprise as the closing college football odds had TCU as 13-point underdogs. The increase in handle was likely driven by states like Maryland and Ohio having access to online sports betting for the National Championship for the first time, despite Ohio State’s disappointing performance in the semifinal game.
