FanDuel Regains Control of New York Online Sports Betting

• FanDuel has regained control of New York online sports betting in the last two weeks
• DraftKings topped FanDuel in total handle for three weeks in June, the first weeks its outperformed FanDuel since the state’s launch
• New York has reported more than $1 billion in online sports betting tax revenue since launch. 

After being outperformed for most of June, FanDuel has seemingly regained control of New York online sports betting.

The New York State Gaming Commission reported $238.02 million in total handle for the week ending July 9 and $22.8 million in gross gaming revenue. This translated into more than $11.6 million in taxes for the state.

FanDuel New York reported $94.67 million in online sports betting handle for the week and $10.7 in gross gaming revenue. DraftKings New York, the second highest performing operator, reported $81.8 million in handle and $7.8 million in gross gaming revenue.

FanDuel Regains New York Footing

FanDuel has outperformed DraftKings for the last two weeks in terms of total online sports betting handle and gross gaming revenue after DraftKings topped the operator from June 11 to June 25. While DraftKings did top FanDuel over that three week span in total online sports betting handle, FanDuel still topped DraftKings in total gross gaming revenue in that time span.

The New York State Gaming Commission releases handle and revenue reports for Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel, BetMGM, WynnBET, PointsBet, Bally Bet, Resorts World Bet, and BetRivers at the conclusion of each week.

Bally Bet ceased operations on June 22 while it transitions to Kambi’s sports betting platform. It will likely come back online before the year is out.

For the week of July 9, the nine sportsbooks reported a total of $22,775,055 in gross gaming revenue.

At New York’s 51% online sports betting tax rate, this resulted in $11.61 million in tax revenue.
