Just like Rome, the Denver Broncos were not built in one day. For the Broncos franchise, it took 14 years to build a winning football team.

In spite of beating the Boston Patriots in the first ever American Football League game in 1960, and becoming the first AFL franchise to beat an NFL franchise in a 1967 preseason game, the Broncos early years were a major struggle.

It took 14 years for the team to record its first winning season, and 18 years to make their first playoff appearance. But those fans who stood by their team have been treated to a whole lot of success.

Since 1976, the Denver Broncos have only suffered through eight losing seasons. In that time, they have also appeared in eight Super Bowls, claiming three Lombardi Trophies.

Unfortunately, two of those losing years have been in back-to-back seasons in 2017 and 2018, the first time the franchise has suffered back-to-back losing seasons since 1971-72.

The Case Keenum project only lasted one dreadful season and the Broncos have now moved on to Joe Flacco under center, who was acquired via trade with the Baltimore Ravens in the offseason.

Arguably the biggest addition Denver made entering 2019, though, was hiring former Bears DC Vic Fangio as their head coach. Fangio will bring that aggressive mentality back to a defense that still has a lot of talent on the field, particularly their edge combo of Von Miller and Bradley Chubb.
