AFC East Odds

The New England Patriots have won the AFC East in 11 of the last 14 seasons, and 16 of the last 20. The Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills (last three years) are the teams to take it from the Pats in that timeframe.

The Buffalo Bills had been suffering through the longest drought before winning the division the last three years. Prior to their 2020 AFC East championship, they had not won the division since 1995. But none of that matters now that they’re back-to-back-to-back AFC East champions.

Odds to Win the AFC East

Team Odds
Buffalo Bills +120
New York Jets +270
Miami Dolphins +300
New England Patriots +800

The Bills are still the favorites to win the AFC East with +120 odds.

Here are some notes on the AFC East odds movement:

  • [April 25] In spite of the Jets trading for Aaron Rodgers, the Bills remained the favorites to win the AFC East.
  • [March 9] The Bills opened as +100 favorites to win the AFC East, with the New York Jets having the second-best odds at +263.

AFC North Odds

Three different teams have won the AFC North in the last four seasons. The Cleveland Browns are the odd team out, not having won the division since 1989. The Bengals are currently back-to-back AFC North champions.

Odds to Win the AFC North

Team Odds
Cincinnati Bengals +150
Baltimore Ravens +230
Cleveland Browns +380
Pittsburgh Steelers +450

The Cincinnati Bengals are currently favored to win the AFC North with +150 odds.

AFC South Odds

The AFC South has been claimed by the Houston Texans in six of the last 12 seasons. The Tennessee Titans won the division in back-to-back seasons in 2020 and 2021, but the Jaguars reign as the champions after winning their second division title in 2022.

Odds to Win the AFC South

Team Odds
Jacksonville Jaguars -155
Tennessee Titans +350
Indianapolis Colts +600
Houston Texans +800

After winning the AFC South last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars are favored to repeat in 2022-23. Jacksonville’s divisional odds are listed at -155.

Odds as of August 3.

Here are some notes on the AFC South odds movement:

  • [March 9] The Jaguars have opened as odds-on favorites to win the AFC South with -143 odds. The Titans have the next best odds at +290 but they face a lot of uncertainties heading into the offseason.

AFC West Odds

The Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos are the only two teams to have claimed the AFC West in the last 13 seasons, with the former having won it each of the last seven seasons.

The Chargers have not won the division since 2009 and you have to go back to 2002 to see the last time the Raiders sat atop the AFC West.

Odds to Win the AFC West

Team Odds
Kansas City Chiefs -165
Los Angeles Chargers +340
Denver Broncos +550
Las Vegas Raiders +1200

The Kansas City Chiefs are once again the favorites to win the AFC West. KC is given -165 odds to win the division.

Odds as of August 3.

Here are some notes on the AFC West odds movement:

  • [March 9] Yet again, the Chiefs opened as the favorites to win the AFC West. One year after many felt the rest of the division caught up, the Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl champs and now favored to win their division again.

NFC East Odds

The NFC East has not had a repeat winner since the Philadelphia Eagles won four straight from 2001-2004. Three different teams have won the division in the last three years, with Philadelphia being the reigning NFC East champion. The Giants have not won the NFC East since 2011.

Odds to Win the NFC East

Team Odds
Philadelphia Eagles -135
Dallas Cowboys +190
New York Giants +850
Washington Commanders +1600

The Philadelphia Eagles are the favorites to win the NFC East with -135 odds.

Odds as of August 3.

Here are some notes on the NFC East odds movement:

  • [May 1] After the conclusion of the NFL Draft, the Eagles went from +120 favorites to win the NFC East to -120 odds-on favorites.
  • [March 9] After representing the NFC in the Super Bowl last year, the Philadelphia Eagles have opened as the favorites to win the NFC East. The Eagles’ odds opened at +113 with the Cowboys close behind at +183.

NFC North Odds

Three different teams have won the NFC North in the last five years, with the Packers having won three division titles in that span. The Detroit Lions are the odd team out, as they haven’t won the division since 1993. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won the division more recently (1999), but were relocated to the NFC South in 2002.

Odds to Win the NFC North

Team Odds
Detroit Lions +140
Minnesota Vikings +275
Chicago Bears +400
Green Bay Packers +400

To the surprise of many, the Detroit Lions are the favorites to win the NFC North at +130 odds. It will also probably look weird to see the Packers sporting the worst odds to win the division after years of being top contenders (often favorite) with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. This is Year 1 of Jordan Love in Green Bay.

Odds as of August 3.

Here are some notes on the NFC North odds movement:

  • [May 1] After trading Aaron Rodgers to the Jets and a not-so-sexy NFL Draft, the Packers have seen their divisional odds fade from +330 to +500, the worst odds in the NFC North.
  • [March 9] The Lions have opened as the favorites to win the NFC North after finishing the 2022-23 season on a high note. Detroit opened at +148 odds with Minnesota behind them at +275. Due to a lot of uncertainty around Aaron Rodgers’ future with the Packers, Green Bay opened at +325 odds.

NFC South Odds

The New Orleans Saints became the second team to repeat as NFC South champions in 2018, joining the Panthers, who won the division from 2013-2015. New Orleans went on to win the NFC South in four straight seasons from 2017 to 2020, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers snapping that streak in 2021. The Bucs are the reigning division champs entering the 2023-24 season as well.

Odds to Win the NFC South

Team Odds
New Orleans Saints +120
Atlanta Falcons +215
Carolina Panthers +400
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +800

The New Orleans Saints are +120 favorites to win the NFC South after signing free agent QB Derek Carr.

Odds as of August 3.

Here are some notes on the NFC South odds movement:

  • [March 9] With Tom Brady retiring earlier in the offseason, the Buccaneers did not open as the favorites to win the NFC South. Instead, it was the New Orleans Saints at +128 odds followed by the Panthers at +255.

NFC West Odds

The San Francisco 49ers won the NFC West in 2022. It was their second division title in the last four years. All four teams have won the division in the last eight years, though, with the Arizona Cardinals riding the longest drought.

Odds to Win the NFC West

Team Odds
San Francisco 49ers -160
Seattle Seahawks +195
Los Angeles Rams +1000
Arizona Cardinals +2500

The San Francisco 49ers are the favorites to win the NFC West. A $20 bet on the Niners would win $12.50 and return $32.50.

Odds as of August 3.

Here are some notes on the NFC West odds movement:

  • [March 12] San Francisco’s divisional odds improved to -190 after the Rams traded Jalen Ramsey to the Dolphins. LA still has the second-best odds to win the division, but are now +425, only slightly better than the Seahawks at +475.
  • [March 9] The 49ers have opened as odds-on favorites to win the NFC West. San Francisco is given -160 odds to repeat as division champs. The LA Rams are given the next-best odds at +290, though they might be selling off some of their more expensive pieces this offseason.
