Here are some notes on the NFL playoff odds movement:
- [May 1] After Lamar Jackson signed a new contract with the Ravens, the Bengals’ odds to make the playoffs slightly faded, making room for the Chiefs to take over as the team with the best playoff odds in the AFC.
- [March 28] The Cincinnati Bengals opened with the best odds to make the playoffs in the AFC. They opened at -370 to get in, just slightly better than the Chiefs at -360. The opening NFL playoff odds say the Bengals and Chiefs will be joined by the Bills, Jaguars, Ravens, Jets, and Dolphins in the AFC side of the playoffs.
Odds to Make Playoffs for NFC Teams
The NFL playoff odds say five of the seven teams who made the NFL playoffs last year in the NFC will be back again this coming postseason. The New York Giants, who have the ninth-best odds, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have the second-worst odds, are the two teams left out from last year’s playoffs, with the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions are among the top seven from the NFC in terms of odds to make the playoffs.

NFL Playoffs FAQ
How many teams make the NFL playoffs?
Fourteen teams - seven each from the NFC and AFC - qualify for the NFL playoffs. The top team in each conference gets a bye to the Divisional Round. The remaining six teams play one-game Wild Card matchups to fill the remaining three Divisional Round berths in each conference.
When do the NFL playoffs start?
This season's NFL playoffs start on January 13, 2024, and end with the Super Bowl on Feb. 11, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
How does OT work in the NFL playoffs?
The new NFL playoff overtime rules mandate that each team gets a chance to possess the ball. If the teams are still tied after each has had one OT possession, the OT period becomes sudden death (next points of any kind win).
